Jerry Seinfeld, the comedian, said that NBC was able keep his first season of his hit show on air thanks to WWE Saturday Night Main Event.

It did have a supporter in the form of former NBC vice president Rick Ludwin.

“Saturday Night Wrestling” was a reference for Saturday Night’s main event. The WWF’s product was aired in four episodes that year.
